This is a hybrid role with both clinical, patient facing and administrative duties. The post holder will adhere to Trust policies and work as an integral member of the team in the delivery of high-quality care to women and their families.
The post holder will work closely with and support the multi-disciplinary team (MDT) in Fetal Medicine. This team comprises of specialist midwives, Obstetric Consultants, Clinical Fellows and Maternity support workers (MSW). This post will provide supervision to the MSW team under the Midwifery leadership.
Alongside the administrative team, they will provide comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to the Consultants and midwives in Fetal Medicine including safe and efficient management of referrals to external agencies, following set protocols and collaborating with the Fetal Medicine Consultants and Midwives.
A valid Care Certificate is mandatory for this role. You will be required to provide evidence of this prior to the interview in order to progress with your application.
The clinical tasks would include:
- Supervising the phlebotomy service for patients attending for 1st and 2nd trimester screening.
- Carrying out delegated tasks as part of the midwifery team.
- Supporting the Fetal Medicine’s Consultant clinic and midwife’s clinic.
- Performing procedures and tasks relevant to the role of the Specialist Midwifery Support Worker and following the fetal medicine midwife’s guidance and instructions.
- Assisting with co-coordinating completion of any outstanding screening services which may breach the failsafe requirements.
- In collaboration with the responsible Midwife, checking the data entered onto the failsafe systems and filing systems, to ensure that all national standards are maintained and reportable.
- Providing cross cover in the absence of the Antenatal screening failsafe officer to ensure support for the Screening coordinator, duties include maintaining a database for the National Antenatal and Newborn (ANNB) screening programmes.
