This post is only for candidates who are qualified school nurses who have undertaken training to be a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse: School Nurse. We are seeking Band 6 Specialist Community Public Health School Nurses, highly motivated, enthusiastic, innovative, and forward-thinking with a strong public health focus.
You must be fully committed to improving the health and wellbeing of our diverse population which is in the heart of London Borough of Hackney and the City of London. If you want to be part of our dynamic school nursing team, then this post is for you.
The post is school and community based, at various sites as required by the needs of the service. We cover primary, secondary, special schools and Pupil Referral Unit (PRU), across a wide area with diverse needs to deliver the healthy child programme 5-19 (25 SEND).
You must have SCPHN - School Nursing qualification and current NMC registration.
- Delivering the Healthy Child Programme across the allocated schools, prioritising the specific health needs of individual children and young people where required.
- Ensure all service delivery and practice undertaken with children and young people takes account of their disability, diversity and religious customs.
- Use evidence-based programmes to improve outcomes for children and young people in school and those who are home schooled.
- Plan, develop, implement and evaluate health improvement programmes that take place within the school setting or the community.
- Initiate outreach clinics to enable parents and carers to access additional support and advice for their children.
- Contribute to developing and or reviewing Standard Operating Procedures that facilitate good practice, and implementing these in all relevant aspects of practice and service provision.
- Contribute and respond to public health guidance and health promotion needs as well as new ways of meeting population health needs.
- Encourage service users to engage in health promotion and public health messages and enable them to provide appropriate lived experience to support the programmes.
- Contribute and engage in effective ways of service delivery including the development and use of pathways that enable seamless service provision for service users.
