This job represents an exciting opportunity to be part of the expanding Clinical Psychology service to Paediatric Haematology at St Mary's Hospital. You will have the opportunity to apply your experience and expertise to the delivery and development of this extremely specialist service that will also now be providing ground-breaking and innovative treatments in Gene therapy alongside Bone Marrow Transplant to families who travel from across the country in the hope of a "cure" for their child's blood condition.

You will become a member of the respected Paediatric Psychology service to Imperial College healthcare within West London Children’s Healthcare. We are looking for practitioners who can work confidently and adaptively in a demanding setting alongside multidisciplinary teams and are passionate about delivering psychological therapy and coproducing pathways within this part of our service.

  • To deliver high quality psychological care and intervention to children and young people (C&YP) and their families seen within the Clinical Psychology Service.
  • Provide clinical supervision and support to psychology colleagues and other members of the MDT as appropriate within Paediatric Psychology at Imperial and CNWL.
  • Participate in teaching and training activities to promote understanding of psychological aspects of paediatric healthcare.
  • Ensure all clinical practice is delivered in accordance with professional, ethical and statutory standards, including HCPC, BPS and Trust governance requirements.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and prepare reports as required in line with Trust policies and professional standards.
  • Regularly conduct, score, interpret and write up psychometric assessments using the Q interactive program or traditional approach.
  • Provide highly specialist psychological assessments of C&YP with complex difficulties related to physical health conditions and readiness for procedures.
  • Work autonomously within professional guidelines.
  • Provide specialist advice and consultation to MDT colleagues regarding the psychological aspects of children's physical health conditions, treatment adherence, adjustment, coping and family functioning.
  • Work collaboratively with medical, nursing, allied health professional, education and social care colleagues to ensure holistic, family-centred care.

The Central and North West London NHS Trust (CNWL) is responsible for the provision of Paediatric Psychology services to a number of acute hospitals across central and northwest London, as well as Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) to the populations of Brent, Hillingdon, Kensington & Chelsea and Westminster. Highly specialist services are also provided to other Trusts and Agencies in a wider regional catchment area.

The paediatric psychology service at Imperial and across CNWL works collaboratively with children and their networks harnessing their strengths and resources to overcome the challenges that health and social inequalities can bring. We encourage creative ways of working which place the young person's identity and development at the heart of their health journey.

Within the wider CNWL Paediatric Psychology Service there are regular opportunities to link with the psychologists working across other sites both informally and formally for CPD and peer support. The CNWL Paediatric Psychology Service meets monthly for business, journal and research presentations, as well as clinical and skill sharing.
