University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is delighted to offer a fantastic opportunity to work with us. We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Specialist Pharmacist to join us in Women and Newborn.

You will be responsible for providing a Clinical Pharmacist service to the gynaecology ward and maternity wards at Princess Anne Hospital alongside a rotational band 7 and band 6 pharmacist. We are offering a full time permanent role. Weekend and late night working will also be required within the wider department.

You will be required to attend the daily multi-disciplinary Labour ward round each morning. You will act as a point of contact for the Theatre areas and Outpatient departments at Princess Anne Hospital.

In recent years a number of new treatments have become available for management of gynaecological conditions (endometriosis/ fibroids) and also non-hormonal treatments for management of menopause. You will support the Lead Pharmacist in writing formulary applications and shared care guidelines for ongoing GP prescribing of these new medications.

You will be the Pharmacy representative at the Women and Newborn risk monthly meeting chaired by a consultant Obstetrician. You will act as a role model and mentor for the rotational band 6 pharmacists that rotate through the area. This includes induction to the wards, mid-rotation and end of rotation assessments and support to ensure their objectives are met.

As part of the gynaecology nurse's mandatory training you will deliver a training session on medicines management. The ideal candidate would be enthusiastic about working in Women's Health and ensuring safe and high quality care is delivered to every patient. They must enjoy working as part of a multi-disciplinary team and must enjoy a patient facing role as ward work is an essential part of this role.

Training and development of junior and trainee pharmacists is also an integral part of this role alongside teaching on nurse mandatory training days.
