We are seeking an experienced and compassionate midwife to join our team as a community coordinator midwife.

As the community coordinator midwife, you will coordinate the day-to‑day operational management of the community midwifery service, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality care.

You will provide visible and effective leadership to community midwives, maternity support workers and students, supporting professional development and fostering a positive team culture.

Working closely with multidisciplinary colleagues, you will contribute to service improvement and excellent outcomes for women and birthing people.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the day-to‑day operational management of the community midwifery service.
  • Provide visible and effective clinical leadership to community midwives and maternity support workers.
  • Ensure the delivery of safe, effective and personalised care in line with national guidance, professional standards and local policies.
  • Manage staffing, workload allocation and service capacity to meet the needs of women, birthing people and families.
  • Promote continuity of care and collaborative working across maternity, neonatal, primary care and external agencies.
  • Lead and support quality improvement initiatives, clinical governance activities and risk management processes.
  • Act as a role model, mentor and clinical supervisor, supporting the professional growth and development of team members.
  • Participate in audit, service evaluation and the implementation of evidence-based practice.
  • Contribute to the investigation and management of incidents, complaints and learning events to support a culture of learning and continuous improvement.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as a registered midwife.
  • Significant post-registration clinical experience, including substantial experience within community midwifery.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, organisational and decision-making skills.
  • Experience of multidisciplinary working and building effective professional relationships.
  • Experience in service improvement, clinical governance and quality assurance activities.
  • A commitment to delivering compassionate, inclusive and equitable maternity care.
  • The ability to inspire, motivate and develop others to achieve high standards of care.
