Purpose for Fixed Term: Long Term Sick Leave

This post is appointed on a fixed-term basis for the primary purpose of providing structured training and supervised clinical development. While the postholder will contribute to service delivery, the overarching purpose of the post is to provide defined educational opportunities, supervised clinical practice, and experience aligned to the relevant specialty training curriculum.

Maintain the highest standards of management of breast conditions and disease.

To attend and contribute to multi-disciplinary meetings of various types as appropriate. Wherever possible, emergency breast referrals are managed within the breast unit, during office hours. There is no requirement to participate in the General Surgery out of hours on call rota.

What we're looking for:

  • You will have responsibility specifically for providing high-quality training within the breast unit alongside colleagues and clinical leads for that area.
  • You will be responsible for the training and supervision of junior medical staff that work with them and will devote time to this activity on a regular basis.
  • You will not have a formal Research component to their job plan however all clinicians are expected to actively support ongoing research themes and projects in line with the expectations of a vibrant academic hospital, including recruitment to clinical trials.
  • You should be up to date with Good Clinical Practice and regularly engage with our dedicated Clinical Trials Team.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: You will be employed under the terms and conditions of service for Consultants (England) 2003.
