We are looking for a caring, organised and proactive Housekeeper to join our Teenage & Young Adult (TYA) team.
This is a key role within the ward, helping to create a clean, safe and welcoming environment for young people receiving cancer and haematology treatment.
Working alongside Nurses, Doctors, Allied Health Professionals, domestics and catering teams, you will support the smooth day to day running of the ward, ensuring patients and their families have the best possible experience during their stay.
As an integral member of the multidisciplinary team, you will coordinate a range of non-clinical services, including maintaining ward cleanliness, managing stock and equipment, supporting food and beverage services, and ensuring patient areas remain safe, comfortable and well organised.
Your contribution allows clinical staff to focus on delivering high quality patient care while helping to uphold the Trust's standards for cleanliness, safety and patient experience.
The post holder will report to the Ward Manager and work closely with the wider multidisciplinary team across Cancer Care to support the delivery of compassionate, high quality care to teenagers and young adults.

Responsibilities
- Maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment by monitoring cleanliness standards, ensuring patient areas and equipment are clean, tidy and ready for use.
- Coordinate non-clinical ward services including stock management, ordering supplies, checking refrigerators, reporting maintenance issues and liaising with domestic and catering teams.
- Support patients by preparing drinks and snacks, assisting with meal services, maintaining patients' belongings safely and providing chaperone support when required.
- Work closely with the multidisciplinary team to ensure the ward runs efficiently while maintaining high standards of health and safety, confidentiality and patient experience.
What experience/skills are needed
- Excellent customer service, communication and interpersonal skills with a caring and professional approach.
- Able to work independently, use initiative and work effectively as part of a team.
- GCSEs (or equivalent), customer service experience and a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to work towards one).
- Previous housekeeping experience and knowledge of manual handling or COSHH are desirable but not essential.
- Additional information
- Flexibility to work the required shift pattern, including weekends and bank holidays where necessary.
