An exciting opportunity has arisen for a nurse to join our team as a full-time, permanent Band 7, Clinical Nurse Specialist in Diabetes. This post will be based at Southampton General Hospital, part of University Hospitals Southampton NHS Foundation Trust; however, cross site working may be required.
We are looking for experienced, highly motivated and enthusiastic nurses who have proven experience in the speciality of inpatient diabetes. You will have a major role in delivering excellent diabetes care to inpatients with opportunities to support in Continuous Insulin infusion devices (pump), maternal diabetes and endocrine (alongside your fellow band 7 team). You will be expected to work autonomously to develop and lead on a specialism within diabetes.
You will act as a specialist resource and provide specialist advice in relation to care of people with diabetes and provide a range of educational and training programmes for the multidisciplinary team, patients, families and carers. Support will be given to the post holders to develop their skills, experience and competence in all spheres of diabetes nursing. The successful candidate will work across professional, departmental and Trust boundaries as required to develop and support patient-centred seamless care, with particular responsibility for leading nurse-led care initiatives.

The service currently runs a Monday-Friday service, but weekend working may be an option in the future/as per service need. Flexible working hours can be considered but on-site working is essential in this patient-facing service.
