We have an opportunity for a Refuse Loader to join a dedicated waste collections team based in Southall.

In this hands-on role, you will work as part of a crew delivering essential kerbside waste and recycling collection services across the London Borough of Hounslow.

You will play an important role in helping to keep local communities clean by providing an efficient and reliable service to residents and businesses.

This is a physically demanding position that requires a good level of fitness, as the role involves regular manual handling and heavy lifting.

You will be responsible for collecting a range of waste streams, including general refuse, dry recycling, food and garden waste, and bulky items from both residential and commercial properties, while working safely and effectively as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Carrying out scheduled waste and recycling collection rounds, ensuring collections are completed efficiently and accurately reporting any missed collections using the in-cab system.
  • Safely loading waste and recycling containers onto the collection vehicle in line with safe working practices.
  • Clearing any spillages that occur during collections to help maintain clean and tidy public areas.
  • Returning emptied bins and containers neatly to the front of each property following collection.
  • Assisting the driver when manoeuvring or reversing the vehicle, acting as a banksman to ensure the safety of colleagues, pedestrians, and other road users.
  • Working collaboratively as part of the collection crew to deliver a reliable and efficient waste and recycling collection service.
  • Following all health and safety procedures, wearing the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and reporting any hazards, incidents, or vehicle defects promptly.
