Main Purpose of the Post

To assist the Service Manager in the day-to-day care functions of the agency.

To take accountability of the day to day running of the service.

The on call is shared as verbal agreement.

To supervise and evaluate the delivery of care and support to ensure care staff are designated appropriate work assignments, to ensure full and professional care is delivered to the service users.

To maintain the quality-of-care service which will be in accordance with standards set down by Desired Care 4 U Ltd.

To ensure compliance with company policies and all statutory and regulatory requirements.

To be fully conversant with Health and Social Act, Published by the Care Quality Commission.

Key Responsibilities

  • 1.

To assist the manager in the implementation of staff rotas to meet the needs of the service users and to ensure they are in accordance with company guidelines, profile match to the service users’ needs, preferences, and contracted times.

  • 2. To have full knowledge of the Mental Health Act 2005 and the Code of Practice in accordance with the company needs.
  • 3. The role is essential for using a device and CRM system.
  • 4. Assist in the recruitment and selection of new care and support workers.
  • 5. Assist the manager in implementing quality assurance initiatives to improve the quality of care offered by the company.
  • 6. Maintaining accurate records including care plans, review notes, service user contact sheets, medication, and financial transaction sheets.
  • 7.

To ensure the correct accident and incident reporting procedures are followed.

To inform the necessary multi-disciplinary team and the Manager of untoward changes in service users’ conditions.

  • 8. To stimulate interest and positive attitudes in personnel; to develop an understanding of service users and the implementation of pro-active care.
  • 9. Providing care and support services on the zones as relief cover for Holidays and sickness or other absences.
  • 10. Providing care services at a senior level as part of an area care team.
  • 11. Providing on-call cover for the agency as per agreement.
  • Staff Support and Supervision
  • 1.

To supervise all staff orientation and implement appropriate training packages.

To evaluate the performance of staff under his/her direct supervision and offer support, training, and progress evaluation with the Manager.

  • 2. By example or in a 'buddying' or 'shadowing' capacity, you will be required to be involved in the supervising of new care workers and the monitory of their competence.
  • 3. You will be required to ensure the compliance of all staff in company Policies and Procedures.
  • 4. To organise and attend meetings with staff, service users and relatives as requested and required.
  • 5.

Supervising and monitoring the performance and attendance of care workers and discussing any shortcomings or problems with the manager Giving advice to care and support workers in accordance with the company policies.

  • 6. Ensuring that the Care Worker’s charter is upheld.
  • Service User Support
  • 1. To ensure the correct maintenance of service users care notes, ensuring legality and accuracy.
  • 2. Assisting the Care Management team in the implementing of quality assurance initiatives to improve the quality of care offered by the company.
  • 3. Working as part of a team assisting with all aspects of care for service users.
  • 4. Acting as a 'keyworker' for particular service users ensuring that their physical, emotional, social, and practical needs are met.
  • 5. Ensuring that high standards of domestic duties are delivered ensuring that service users’ home are maintained in a clean, tidy, and hygienic condition.
  • 6. To ensure the correct, accurate maintenance of drug records, paying particular attention to the storage, handling and recording of use.
  • 7. Ensuring that the spirit of the service user’s charter is upheld.
  • Health and Safety

Being aware of and complying with safe working practises as instructed and in accordance with Company policies and procedures. Attending training when required.

Undertaking Generic, Environment, falls and Manual handling assessment.

Contributing to the maintenance of safe working environments for care workers and service users by immediately reporting any unsafe practise or situation to the manager.

Reporting any defective equipment to the manager.

Reporting any accidents to care workers, service users or visitors to their home to the manager and recording in the report book and Accident book.

Acting in a calm and professional manner when responding to an emergency.

General

Participating in staff meetings, training, development, and supervision sessions when required.

Promoting a positive working relationship between all departments.

Provide on-call cover for the agency out of hours responding to emergency calls as appropriate.
