Frimley Health is committed to delivering outstanding patient care while supporting staff to develop their skills and careers. We are seeking a motivated Band 5 Staff Nurse to join our JAG-accredited Endoscopy Unit at Wexham Park Hospital.
Our busy acute service provides a wide range of diagnostic, therapeutic and emergency endoscopy procedures for patients across Berkshire and Buckinghamshire, including advanced procedures such as ERCP. The unit has four modern procedure rooms and operates seven days a week (8am–6pm), with a dedicated on-call service providing emergency endoscopy outside normal hours.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and ambitious nurse to support the continued development of our service. The successful candidate will receive comprehensive training in a variety of endoscopy procedures and have opportunities to gain experience across our three hospital sites. This role is ideal for a forward-thinking nurse who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and is eager to develop new skills. Previous endoscopy experience is not essential, although it would be an advantage.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver safe, high-quality, patient-centred nursing care throughout the endoscopy pathway, ensuring patients receive compassionate support before, during and after their procedure.
- Develop knowledge and clinical skills in all areas of Endoscopy by working closely with an allocated mentor and receiving ongoing support from experienced senior staff.
- Assist with a wide range of diagnostic, therapeutic and emergency endoscopic procedures, maintaining high standards of infection prevention, patient safety and dignity.
- Participate in patient assessment, preparation, recovery and discharge, ensuring accurate documentation and effective communication with the multidisciplinary team.
- Use the EPIC electronic patient record system to document care, access patient information and support the delivery of a fully paperless service, with comprehensive training provided.
- Contribute to the smooth running and continuous improvement of the Endoscopy Unit by working collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team and actively participating in learning, training and service development opportunities.
Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust is committed to being an inclusive and disability confident employer and has been awarded the Gold for the Armed Forces Employment Recognition Scheme. Here at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust, we know how important it is to have a healthy work life balance; this benefits not only individuals but the patients we care for too. We encourage applications from people who wish to work on a flexible basis, recognising that flexibility may mean a range of different working patterns and hours, we do our utmost to work with our staff to meet their needs and the needs of our service and its users.
