We are seeking an experienced Senior Finance Officer to join a well-established and growing educational organisation in Slough. This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional with previous education sector experience to play a key role in supporting financial operations, budget management, and strategic decision-making.
Working closely with senior finance leaders, you will help ensure the effective management of financial systems, processes, and controls while supporting the wider organisation in achieving value for money and maintaining high financial standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Support senior finance leaders with budget monitoring and financial reporting
- Assist with annual budget setting and year-end accounts processes
- Monitor expenditure and income, ensuring accurate financial controls are maintained
- Maintain and oversee the contracts register
- Support payroll monitoring activities
- Provide financial support for Special Educational Needs (SEN) budget monitoring
- Process supplier invoices and support accounts payable activities
- Assist with procurement processes and value-for-money initiatives
- Support the day-to-day operations of the finance function
- Work collaboratively with stakeholders across the organisation
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Previous finance experience within a school, academy trust, or educational environment
- Full or part-qualified accountant status (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent), or be fully qualified AAT
- Experience using Sage 200 and other financial ledger systems
- Strong budgeting, reporting, and financial analysis skills
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- Advanced IT skills, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Experience handling confidential information professionally and sensitively
