Orthopaedic Physiotherapy Assistant Practitioner | Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Band 4 Physiotherapy Assistant Practitionerto join our Physiotherapy team at Wexham Park Hospital, working across Orthopaedic wards.
About you
- Have inpatient orthopaedic experience as a physiotherapy technician, therapy assistant or assistant practitioner.
- Enjoy supporting patients through assessment, rehabilitation, discharge planning and onward referral following admission to the orthopaedic wards.
- Are ready to manage your own caseload, treating non-complex patients independently within agreed competencies.
- Are keen to contribute to the development, support and supervision of Band 2β3 colleagues within the team.
- Would value working in a busy, rewarding environment where excellent patient care, teamwork and professional development are central to the role.
- What the role involves
- Post-operative assessment, treatment and progression of rehabilitation plans, with support where required.
- Assessment and treatment of appropriate non-complex orthopaedic patients, including those managed under the orthopaedic service.
- Oversee the management of medical ward caseload within the orthopaedic physiotherapy service.
- Provision, adjustment and education around mobility aids and equipment where required.
- Supporting safe and timely discharge planning through effective communication with patients, families and the wider MDT.
- Contributing to the induction, development and supervision of physiotherapy assistant staff.
- Participating in the OT/PT weekend working rota as part of the wider therapy service.
