An exciting opportunity for two Band 6 Clinical Nurse Specialists has become available within our Gynae Oncology Specialist Nursing team. There are permanent positions available for a full-time 37.5 hours and a part-time 30 hours per week.
We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated nurses who have excellent interpersonal skills to join our growing Clinical Nurse Specialist service. The successful candidates will participate in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care to ensure continuity of care, providing support for our patients who are undergoing investigations/treatment for suspected or confirmed gynaecological malignancies.
- Demonstrate advanced communication skills (completion of a recognised advanced communication skills course).
- Communicate effectively with patients, recognising any barriers to understanding to provide and receive complex, highly sensitive, and emotive information.
- Take responsibility for assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care in conjunction with the Gynae Oncology Consultant using analytical judgemental skills, underpinned by theoretical knowledge to initiate the most appropriate care for the patient.
- Act as keyworker for patients with suspected or confirmed gynaecological cancers, providing specialist nursing advice to support patients and their families from the beginning of the pathway and throughout their cancer pathway.
- Work as the patient advocate, helping navigate the patient journey and ensuring optimum care is provided to each patient.
- Provide telephone support to patients, discussing symptoms and advising on management to prevent inappropriate admission to acute care.
- Adopt and maintain a flexible approach to patient care, recognising the changing needs of patients throughout their cancer pathway.
- Develop and work closely with members of the Multidisciplinary team regarding all aspects of the gynaecology oncology service.
