The predicted salary is between 11.7 - 14.3 £ per hour.
The role is to provide person-centred, one-to-one support to Adam, enabling him to live an active and fulfilling life while ensuring his safety, emotional wellbeing, and independence are promoted.
The role will include:
- Providing constant one-to-one supervision during allocated hours
- Supporting Adam to attend his day centre and leisure activities
- Supporting community access, including outings such as bowling
- Monitoring safety at all times, particularly around roads and in public places
- Supporting emotional wellbeing and providing reassurance during periods of anxiety
- Encouraging positive routines and clear expectations
- Working flexibly in line with agreed weekly hours.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Provide continuous supervision to ensure Adam’s safety at all times
- Support Adam in the community, including managing road safety
- Recognise signs of anxiety and respond with calm reassurance
- Maintain clear, consistent, and firm but supportive boundaries
- Support Adam if he becomes unsettled or wants to leave an activity, helping him remain safe
- Promote independence while prioritising safety and wellbeing
- Communicate appropriately with the family regarding relevant matters
- Maintain a calm, respectful, and professional approach at all times.
Required Training
- No formal qualifications are required
- It is preferred that the applicant has knowledge and experience of supporting individuals with Learning Disabilities (LD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), associated challenging behaviour, and mental health needs
- Willingness to undertake relevant training, including safeguarding and moving and handling (if required)
- A good understanding of risk awareness, emotional regulation, and boundary setting is desirable.
How will the hours be used
Adam is looking for two Personal Assistants, each to work 12 hours per week. The working days and times will vary during the week mon-fri, depending on my working hours, so applicants will need to be flexible. Support will typically be required on weekdays, with some variation from week to week. During your working hours you may support to attend a day centre, go bowling, and take part in other community and leisure activities that he enjoys. Exact shifts will be agreed in advance wherever possible.
