About the role

Sheffcare is a values-led charity providing vital care services across Sheffield.

We are looking for a compassionate, approachable and team-focused Management Accountant to join our finance team and help us continue delivering high-quality support to the people who rely on our services

This is an exciting opportunity to play an important role in a charity where finance directly supports care.

Working closely with the Director of Finance, you will help with financial planning, management accounts, performance reporting, budgeting and decision-making across the organisation.

You will support budget holders to understand their financial information, provide clear and useful reports, and contribute to the ongoing development of our finance systems, processes and controls.

The role also offers the chance to work with senior leaders and get involved in both strategic and day-to-day finance activity.

Hours and working pattern

This role is 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

We can be very flexible about how these hours are worked, and we are happy to discuss a working pattern that suits both you and the needs of the service.

The role is hybrid, with a mix of working from home and working in our Central Support Service office (S5).

There will also be some travel between Sheffcare locations across Sheffield.

  • What you will be doing
  • Preparing accurate monthly management accounts, reports and variance analysis.
  • Supporting budgeting, forecasting and year-end processes.
  • Helping budget holders understand financial information and make informed decisions.
  • Maintaining strong financial controls, reconciliations and records.
  • Supporting income, billing and credit control processes where needed.
  • Contributing to the development of finance policies, procedures and reporting systems.
  • Working closely with the Director of Finance and acting as deputy when required.
  • What we are looking for

We are looking for someone who is fully qualified ACCA, CIMA or ACA and has strong experience in management accounting, financial analysis, reconciliations and supporting budget holders.

Just as importantly, we are looking for someone who is caring, compassionate and easy to work with.

You will need to build positive relationships, explain finance clearly to non-finance colleagues, and fit well into a supportive team that works together to make a difference.

You will also need strong Excel skills, confidence working with data, good attention to detail, and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.

Experience in a charity or social care setting would be helpful, but it is not essential.

Why join Sheffcare?

  • Make a meaningful impact in a charitable organisation providing vital care services.
  • Work 30 hours per week, with real flexibility around how your hours are arranged.
  • Benefit from hybrid working, including some home working.
  • Join a collaborative, supportive and values-led team.
  • Work directly with senior leaders across the charity.
  • Enjoy a varied role with both strategic and operational finance work.
  • Access professional development opportunities.
  • Use our Employee Assistance Programme when you need support.
