At Minibugs Wincobank we are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our nursery team, and commence a full training programme with the relevant provider for the setting to train to become a qualified nursery practitioner within the agreed timescale. During your apprenticeship, you will:

  • Assist with delivering high quality care and learning opportunities for children based on their needs and interests.
  • Build effective relationships and fully engage with children, parents and colleagues.
  • Work collaboratively as part of the nursery practitioner team and support the Nursery Management team to create safe and stimulating environments in line with the EYFS framework.
  • Gain understanding of being a Key Person carrying out all related responsibilities in building relationships with a small group of children and their families through effective parent partnerships.
  • Gain understanding of logging all relevant observations, assessments and learning journey milestones to a high standard and be able to evidence how this has supported your planning.
  • Gain understanding of maintaining accurate and effective children’s records and records of progress.
  • Promote the inclusion of all children.
  • Meet the physical needs of children by encouraging good standards of personal hygiene, whilst promoting independence.
  • Provide support for the children’s emotional and social needs by implementing the principles for promoting positive behaviour and role modelling high standards in all aspects of their role and personal conduct.
  • Have a child-centred approach to the running of the setting.
  • Promote positive values, attitudes and good child behaviour, dealing promptly with conflict and incidents among children in line with established positive behaviour policy and encouraging children to take responsibility for their own behaviour.
  • Respond appropriately to issues regarding confidentiality.
  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and report any child protection or staffing issues to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) or Designated Safeguarding Deputy (DSD) where appropriate.
  • Be aware of the routes of reporting to relevant safeguarding bodies.
  • Complete all academic aspects of the apprenticeship within the agreed timescales provided by the course provider.
  • Engage effectively with parents / carers to support children’s development.

  • Maths & English Grade 4 - desirable.

Training to be Provided:

Your full role and responsibilities will be set out by your employer. They will provide you with all of the on-the-job training you need to up-skill in your role, and your 20% off-the-job learning will be incorporated as part of your working day. You will be working towards the Level 3 Early Years Educator apprenticeship standard, which includes:

  • Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours.
  • Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid or Level 3 Award in Emergency Paediatric First Aid.
  • Level 2 Functional Skills in maths and English (if required).

This will be delivered by your dedicated training provider, Realise.

Future Prospects:

Progression to Nursery Practitioner Apprenticeship Duration 14 Months.
