We are seeking to recruit an experienced software developer to teach as an Academic Tutor on our undergraduate and apprenticeship programmes in computer science and software engineering. This is a teaching role, supporting our undergraduate students as they learn in practical laboratory sessions, helping them work in teams on applied projects, supporting them both online and face-to-face as they tackle programming assignments, and grading their assignment submissions.
Our courses are built around a project-based pedagogy in which students develop their knowledge and skills by working in teams on problems that are sourced from businesses across the UK. The successful candidate will use their commercial skills to help students use appropriate industry-standard tools and approaches to design, build, and test solutions to those problems.
The role requires someone who has varied experience and skills, who can work across platforms, and is happy using many different tools. Most importantly we are looking for someone who is an exceptional communicator, who can take the complexity of modern software development, distil it to its essential core, and present that to novice developers.
