ROLE AND PURPOSE
Reporting to Operational Management and designated Duty Managers, this role is to support in supervising a customer focussed engaging front line service for the Theatres and Halls service. The successful applicant will be methodical, patient, self-motivated, and a strong communicator, and will be able to take ownership of the role whilst on shift; being organised and efficient.
- To supervise other venue staff taking a lead role where required and assist the Duty Manager as needed.
- To provide a safe healthy environment for staff, visitors, customers, touring companies, performers, and contractors whilst on duty.
- To carry out sales to the public including ice creams, show merchandise, food and beverage including cashing up of monies taken.
- To provide routine maintenance cleaning as required and undertake basic set ups for shows/events.
- To show a flexible attitude towards roles responsibilities, the needs of the service and the support of professional staff.
- To represent the Duty Manager in all forms as and where required.
- Acting as the main SIA and First Aid accredited member of staff for all members of the public, visiting company and staff.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- To promote and safeguard the welfare of children, young people and/or vulnerable adults.
- To offer a friendly and helpful welcome to all users and visitors to the venues and support a team of assistants who are primarily the first point of contact e.g., taking/scanning tickets and showing customers to seats as well as providing the highest possible standard of customer care at all times for a wide variety of events.
- To be responsive to the needs of customers dealing efficiently with enquiries, routine complaints, first aid support and security supervision.
- To administer assistance to the Duty Manager in recording and processing goods-for-resale monies as required ensuring all payments are handled in line with the Company’s and Theatres and Halls service operating procedures.
- Under delegation from the Duty Manager - supervise the security of cash handling, stock control and keys in accordance with the Company’s and Theatres and Halls service risk management procedures including locking/unlocking of buildings as required.
- As a member of the Operations Team to be proactive in ensuring and maintaining high standards of health and safety including building checks pre and post events.
- To supervise front-line operational team members under the direction of the Duty Manager or other members of the management team.
- To monitor the audience and supervise conduct ensuring venue rules, regulations and terms of sales and admittance are adhered to.
- To assist with receiving and storing deliveries of goods for re-sale items etc., to carry out rotation of stock as required and to support in stock audits and inventory.
- To carry out routine administration duties including but not limited to filing, photocopying, using a pc to input data, generate/access emails etc. as required.
- To engage in training and development as and when required.
- To supervise emergency situations, such as first aid and security incidents, to ensure the building is locked and secure at the end of the shift once all public and personnel have vacated.
- To be competent and pro-actively keep up to date with our building operations, fire safety policy and risk assessments to play a pivotal role in our incident investigation and evacuation procedures.
- To carry out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities within the overall function, commensurate with the grading and level of responsibilities of the post.
The Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and associated legislation places responsibilities for health and safety on Hull Culture and Leisure, as your employer and you as an employee of the company. In addition to the Company’s overall duties, the post holder has personal responsibility for their own health safety and that of other employees; additional and more specific responsibilities are identified in the Company’s Corporate HS policy.
