As a Senior Anaesthetic Practitioner, you will play a key leadership role within the perioperative team, ensuring the delivery of a safe, efficient, and high-quality anaesthesia service across a varied and complex caseload. You will be responsible for managing and coordinating the anaesthetic team on a day-to-day basis, demonstrating clinical expertise and professional leadership to support the delivery of excellent patient care. You will work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to ensure effective theatre utilisation and patient flow.

To undertake this role, you must be a Registered Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC) or Registered Nurse (NMC) with a recognised and accredited postgraduate anaesthetic qualification. You will have extensive experience within the operating theatre environment, with a strong understanding of anaesthetic practice and the perioperative needs of patients. Excellent organisational, leadership, and communication skills are essential, along with experience of supervising and supporting multidisciplinary teams.

You will be responsible for promoting and maintaining a safe, caring environment, ensuring compliance with NMC/HCPC standards, CQC requirements, and local policies. As a Senior Anaesthetic Practitioner, you will provide expert clinical care and support to patients undergoing surgery, ensuring safe and effective delivery of anaesthesia across a wide range of complex procedures. You will be responsible for preparing and managing specialist anaesthetic equipment and drugs, including anaesthetic machines, airway devices, and intravenous therapies.

Working as a senior member of the multidisciplinary team, you will lead on the planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care without direct supervision, ensuring practice is evidence-based and patient-centred. You will provide professional leadership, supervision, and support to both qualified and unqualified staff, fostering a positive learning environment. You will contribute to the day-to-day coordination of the theatre and anaesthetic service, supporting safe patient flow, effective utilisation of resources, and maintaining high standards of care.

In the absence of the Lead Practitioner, you will take operational responsibility for the Theatre and Anaesthesia service, including staff deployment and resource management.
