Senior Paediatric Nurse ARFID Pathway | East London NHS Foundation Trust

This post will play an integral role in the ARFID Pathway within the Community Eating Disorders Service for Children and Young People (CEDS-CYP), with a focus on providing and coordinating specialist nursing input and physical health monitoring for children and young people with Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID) or suspected ARFID.

CEDS-CYP is a specialist service offering assessment and treatment to young people under 18 who are experiencing an eating disorder.

The ARFID Pathway is a dedicated, community-based pathway within CEDS-CYP for children and young people aged 8–18, delivering early, evidence-based, multidisciplinary assessment, consultation and brief intervention.

Our team covers Tower Hamlets, Newham and City & Hackney.

  • Responsibility for overseeing physical health monitoring for children and young people on the ARFID Pathway, providing senior specialist advice and guidance for families on how to respond to concerns at home.
  • Ensuring there are safe and effective blood monitoring systems for children and young people, including for refeeding and vomiting; ensuring results are received in a timely manner and escalating as appropriate.
  • Involvement in passing and monitoring NG tubes, where clinically indicated.
  • Coordinating DEXA scans and other relevant investigations, ensuring results are received in a timely manner, chasing where appropriate.
  • Overseeing the provision of meal support to young people and families at home, in clinic and in hospital, supporting staff to model appropriate support for parents, with time to evaluate the process at each visit.

Our mission is to make a positive difference to people's lives by improving the quality of life for all we serve.

Our values are: We Care, We Respect, We are Inclusive – so we are looking for people who live and breathe these qualities when supporting service users and carers, and in their relationships with colleagues in the Trust and our partner organisations
