Join the Department for Transport's Digital, Information and Security Directorate and help shape the digital services that support critical government operations. As a Senior Developer, you'll play a leading role in designing, building and improving modern, user-focused digital solutions that deliver real value across the department.
Working within the Create Service Line, you'll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop secure, resilient and scalable services. You'll lead development across complex projects, helping to translate user and business needs into effective technical solutions while championing best practice in software engineering and agile delivery.
You'll take ownership of the services you build, supporting them throughout their lifecycle and identifying opportunities to improve performance, stability and security. Alongside hands-on development, you'll act as a technical leader, mentoring colleagues, sharing knowledge and helping to build capability across the team.
This is an exciting opportunity to work with modern technologies, contribute to high-profile digital initiatives and influence the future of digital delivery at DfT.
Your responsibilities will include, but aren’t limited to:
- Planning and leading development on sets of related stories.
- Understanding the whole system and take responsibility for teaching this to others.
- Working with other disciplines to understand what needs to be built.
- Coaching and mentoring more junior colleagues.
- Operating the production services you build.
- Finding ways to improve system robustness, resilience, and stability.
- Participating in various technologies communities of practise.
