North Edinburgh Childcare is seeking an enthusiastic, experienced and highly motivated Senior Childcare & Education Practitioner to join our Nursery Childcare Team on a fixed-term maternity cover contract.

As a Senior Practitioner, you will play a key role in the efficient and effective delivery of high-quality childcare and early learning for a diverse range of children aged 4 months to 5 years. You will assist the Nursery Team Leader with the day-to-day work of team members, maintain an overview of practice within your playroom, and take responsibility for the safe, smooth running of a busy early years environment.

The role also involves identifying and meeting children’s care, support and learning needs, overseeing the work of others, and taking responsibility for groups of children both within the nursery and on outings.

We are looking for someone who can create a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment, work collaboratively within a supportive team, and uphold NEC’s commitment to high-quality practice, inclusion and children’s rights.

Applicants must have, be working towards, or be willing to work towards:

  • A recognised childcare qualification: HNC in Childhood Practice, SVQ Social Services (Children & Young People) SCQF Level 7, or equivalent
  • Knowledge of national practice guidance
  • Experience in an early learning and/or childcare setting
  • A commitment to high-quality practice and inclusive values
  • The ability to work effectively within a busy team

All applicants must be eligible to:
