We have a vacancy for a QC Operator in our Selby Packhouse.

The Selby Packhouse is a seasonal operation and runs from March to November, packing Cucumbers.

This role is a seasonal role until 30 November 2026.

We require a self-motivated and detail-orientated QC Operative to join the Selby Packhouse team.

Reporting to the Quality Supervisor you will carry out quality checks on our fresh produce to ensure it meets customer specifications before despatch.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor quality of finished product and assess if ready for despatch.
  • Ensure that all products packed meet the agreed customer specifications.
  • First basket checks (QC Online).
  • Temperature Checks (QC Online).
  • Printing of product labels, ensuring they contain the correct information.
  • Check the quality of the finished products- QC Online- (barcode, correct weight/film, pack orientation).
  • Completing paperwork.
  • Cleaning the label room/shelf-life room.
  • Report non-conformances or anomalies and monitor implementation of corrective actions.

Skills

  • Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem-solving.
  • Good level of spoken and written English.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office.
  • Good organisation and numeracy skills.
  • Focus on continuous improvement and a “get it done” attitude.
  • Previous experience in Quality Control/Assurance.
  • Previous experience working in FMCG (fast moving consumable goods).
  • Qualifications in Food Hygiene and HACCP would be an advantage or previous experience of working in a QC department of a food manufacturing business. Training will be provided.

At Selby, our operation runs seven days a week. You will be required to work five days per week & these five days could include Saturdays or Sundays.
