Security Officer (247jc) – Central London

Security Officer (247jc) – Central London - Β£40k + Benefits

Our client is looking to recruit additional Security Officers to join their growing in-house security team in Central London.

This is not simply a traditional guarding role. You will be joining a developing security operation that makes use of modern technology, established security procedures and experienced security professionals to protect a varied portfolio of sites and assets.

For someone coming from the Armed Forces, military policing, operations, communications, intelligence, force protection or a similar security-focused environment, this could offer an excellent opportunity to build a long-term career within the commercial security sector.

Reporting to the Security Operations Team Leader, you will primarily work within the Security Operations Control Room, monitoring activity across a number of locations and responding appropriately to incidents, alarms and emerging situations.

The ability to remain calm, assess information quickly and understand when to act independently and when to elevate will be particularly important.

Key Responsibilities

Your duties will include:

  • Monitoring and assessing security activity across the client's property and site portfolio from the Operations Room.
  • Acting as an initial triage point for security incidents and emerging risks.
  • Monitoring and responding to CCTV alerts and alarm activations.
  • Assessing situations quickly and taking appropriate and proportionate action.
  • Escalating incidents to senior security personnel or the Emergency Services when required.
  • Conducting internal and external security patrols when necessary.
  • Identifying and reporting security vulnerabilities or suspicious activity.
  • Carrying out secure lock and unlock procedures.
  • Producing clear and comprehensive shift handovers and incident reports.
  • Supporting security operations at other London locations when required.
  • Working alongside experienced security professionals and subject matter experts to continue developing your skills.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who is reliable, professional, observant and comfortable taking responsibility.

Previous military experience would transfer particularly well into this environment, especially if you are accustomed to working within established procedures, maintaining situational awareness and making decisions under pressure.

You will need:

  • A valid SIA licence, CCTV/Public Space Surveillance, Door Supervisor or Close Protection.
  • Previous security experience, ideally including control room operations, incident management or risk assessment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • The ability to produce accurate and concise reports.
  • Good IT skills and confidence using security systems and communications equipment.
  • High standards of reliability, punctuality and attention to detail.
  • A full UK driving licence, up to three points may be considered on a case‑by‑case basis.
  • The ability to commute reliably into Central London for both day and night shifts.
  • Knowledge of London and its main routes and landmarks would be advantageous.
  • An Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) qualification would also be beneficial.

Shift Pattern

The security operation runs around the clock, including weekends and bank holidays. You will work a rotating pattern of 3 Days – 3 Nights – 3 Days Off.

The established rotation means you can plan your working pattern several months in advance.

Please note that this position is entirely Central London based and no accommodation is provided.

Salary & Benefits

The starting salary is Β£40,000 per annum

The benefits package includes:

  • Company pension
  • Ongoing learning and professional development
  • Opportunity to develop within a growing in-house security operation
