We are seeking an experienced Senior General Foreman for a leading Main Contractor to deliver a high-profile project. The initial project involves structural bridge works, heavy earthworks, highway tie-ins, and complex civil engineering elements. Following completion, you will transition into a permanent operational leadership role across an ongoing regional pipeline of local authority highways, S278 works, and Environment Agency schemes in Sussex.

Key Responsibilities

  • Site Operations: Drive day-to-day site activities, managing direct labour, plant, and sub-contractors across earthworks, structural concrete, bridge construction, and highway packages.
  • Health & Safety: Enforce strict zero-harm standards, review RAMS, deliver inductions/toolbox talks, and maintain environmental and tidal working controls.
  • Planning & Progress: Partner with the PM on short-term look-ahead programmes, tracking daily outputs against targets, managing site diaries, and coordinating tidal shift logistics where required.

Requirements

  • Experience: Proven track record as a Senior General Foreman with a Main Contractor in heavy civils, highways, earthworks, and bridge schemes.
  • Certifications: SMSTS and CSCS Card (Black or Gold) are mandatory. First Aid is desirable.
  • Working Pattern: 5 days a week on site (07:30/08:00 - 17:00/17:30). Flexibility for potential shift work tied to tidal hours is required.

Candidates must be eligible to live and work in the UK.
