Hays Accountancy & Finance are supporting a well-established manufacturing and engineering business in Scunthorpe with the recruitment of a Temporary Accountant to provide sickness cover.
This is a broad and hands-on finance role within a busy finance function, offering exposure across both financial and management accounting activities.
Your new role
Reporting into senior finance leadership, you will support the day-to-day running of the finance function whilst ensuring accurate financial reporting and effective financial control.
This is a varied position suited to an experienced accountant who enjoys working across multiple areas of finance and can quickly add value within a fast-paced environment.
Key responsibilities will include
- Preparation of management accounts and month-end reporting
- Financial accounting activities, including balance sheet reconciliations
- Producing trial balance information and supporting statutory reporting
- Budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis
- Cashflow monitoring and forecasting
- VAT returns and other regulatory reporting requirements
- Bank reconciliations and payment processing
- Credit control oversight and aged debt management
- Producing financial reports and analysis for management
- Supporting and mentoring finance team members where required
- Assisting with process improvements and strengthening financial controls
- Providing ad hoc finance support across the wider business
- What you'll need to succeed
- Previous experience within a varied accounting role covering both management and financial accounting
- Strong understanding of month-end processes and financial reporting
- Experience of budgeting, forecasting and cashflow management Knowledge of VAT and compliance reporting requirements
- Experience within a manufacturing, engineering or similar environment would be advantageous
- Excellent Excel and systems skills
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Professional qualification (AAT, ACCA, CIMA, ACA part-qualified or qualified) desirable
- Available to start at short notice

- Working hours: Monday to Thursday 8.30am to 5.00pm with a 30-minute lunch break, and a 4.00pm finish on Fridays
