Your new role

Working closely with the Head of Science and teaching staff, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of the Science Department.

Responsibilities will include

  • Preparing and setting up equipment, materials and resources for practical science lessons.
  • Maintaining laboratory equipment and ensuring resources are safe and ready for use.
  • Managing stock levels and ordering consumables when required.
  • Supporting teachers during practical lessons and demonstrations.
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and COSHH requirements.
  • Maintaining a clean, organised and safe laboratory environment.
  • Keeping accurate records of equipment maintenance and inventory.
  • Assisting with displays, projects and departmental activities where appropriate.
  • What you'll need to succeed

The successful candidate will

  • Have previous experience working as a Science Technician, Laboratory Assistant or within a science-related environment.
  • Possess a strong understanding of laboratory health and safety procedures.
  • Be highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
  • Have strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Be able to prioritise workload effectively and work independently.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to supporting young people with additional learning needs.
  • Hold GCSEs (or equivalent) in English, Mathematics and Science.

Experience working within an educational setting and knowledge of supporting students with Special Educational Needs would be advantageous but is not essential.
