Roles that require PVG Membership

Please note that with effect from 1 April 2023, where a role requires PVG membership, candidates will be required to meet the cost of the PVG membership. This applies only to roles with a full time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above (Teaching roles and jobs at Grade 11 and above (currently £17.31 per hour). The Council will pay for the PVG membership cost initially, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members, or £59 for non-members, and this cost will be deducted from an employee’s first FULL month’s salary payment.

Job purpose/about the role:

  • To assist with the provision of administrative and clerical support within secondary schools, financial and administrative duties in accordance with corporate and school procedures.

The working pattern can be negotiated; however, we require the postholder to work a split shift over 2 days including a Friday and during school hours. The successful candidate will have previous school office support experience, be confident in using IT systems, be well organised, show good initiative and have a kind and nurturing ethos.

The post holder needs to hold as a minimum:

  • PVG membership for regulated work with children OR willingness to obtain prior to commencing work

The postholder is able to demonstrate:

  • High level of competency in using Microsoft packages
  • Ability to contribute positively to a team, including in a supervisory role where required
