We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Dermatology Consultant to join our team of friendly and supportive colleagues within the Dermatology department. There are currently 11 consultants and an associate specialist working within Dermatology. The team is multidisciplinary comprising also of 2 specialist registrars (Yorkshire rotation), Hospital Practitioners, a Physician Associate, 3 GP trainees, 2 Advanced Skin cancer Nurse Practitioners, Skin Surgery Nurses, a Chronic Disease Specialist Nurse team and a Skin Cancer CNS team.
Within the service there are dedicated dermatology theatres and facilities for PDT, phototherapy and patch testing. Specialist Nurse led services include dermatological surgery, leg ulcers/lymphoedema management, cryotherapy and drug monitoring. Nurse practitioner led services in skin cancer diagnosis and follow up are also established. A skin cancer specialist nurse team additionally provides support. We have close links with other specialties. Dermatology is primarily based at York Hospital and provides a full range of general dermatology services. The team provides services at peripheral sites. An active teledermatology service is provided for A&G and referral triage. In-patient Dermatology service is offered at York and Scarborough Hospital sites.
The job role involves supporting a well-established and collaborative department, focused on excellent, person-centered care. Within the Trust, Dermatology is part of the Clinical Support and Cancer Services Care Group, which includes most specialist medicine services. We have a Clinical Director responsible for these services. Individual job plans will be discussed with the post holder on appointment, with the Clinical Director to finalise the job plan which will become operational on commencement. All job plans are agreed in line with the Trust's Job Planning Principles. The job will involve providing outpatient clinics and surgical lists plus contributing to the consultant on call rota. Outpatient clinics will be at York and a peripheral East Coast Hospital. The specific job plan for this post will be discussed in detail with the post holder on appointment. A full-time post is likely to consist of 5-6 outpatient clinics a week (which may be a mix of general clinics, surgical lists, telephone/teledermatology clinics and special interest clinics and can be adapted as appropriate on discussion). Travel time to peripheral hospitals will be supported within the job plan. In addition, there is a once a month joint difficult cases clinic and weekly skin cancer multidisciplinary meetings. You will also contribute to the daytime Dermatology on call rota that supports both York and Scarborough inpatients. This is part of a 9-5 weekday on call rota through our electronic referral system which supports remote reviews when possible. There will be approximately 5-6 PAs for clinics, 1.5 PAs for SPA, 2-2.5 PAs for administration with the remainder for MDT, regional meetings, on call supervision and travel. The successful applicant will have secretarial support and office accommodation.
