Hourly pay rate: £13.50 to £14.10 per hour (depending on experience) or negotiable for self-employed.

We’re looking for a caring, patient and energetic person to support a bright 11-year-old boy who is severely autistic and non-verbal (although basic language is emerging). Our son loves being out and about — going for walks, watching traffic, visiting the zoo or park, swimming, and exploring old churches. At home, he enjoys sensory play, books, toy cars/bike, his tablet computer, music, musical toys and his favourite CBeebies shows such as Twirlywoos and Grace’s Amazing Machines. He very much enjoys grouping sequences of similar toys and books.

We have recently been approved 2:1 funding and are primarily looking for someone to work with our son’s existing PA in taking him out and about in the community to develop his independence from us, his parents, probably on a Saturday morning. Your role will involve spending time with him primarily in the community with a second PA as part of 2:1 support. You’ll help him engage in activities, encourage interaction and communication, and support him with personal care such as pad changing. Outings may include walks, bus rides, park visits, or other activities he enjoys.

Experience with autism or special needs would be helpful but is not essential, as training will be provided. Being a car driver is preferred. The position offers flexible hours, mainly during school holidays, and requires a DBS check.

If you are compassionate, reliable, and enjoy helping children explore the world around them, this is a chance to make a genuine difference while sharing in everyday adventures and moments of joy.
