R B Watts Roofing Contractors & Merchants Ltd is a small, family-run business based in Longham near Dereham, looking for a new Sales Assistant and Trainee Roofing Estimator to join our team. The right candidate will have good numeracy skills and be keen to learn how to accurately take off from technical roofing drawings to price roof works, from one-off domestic refurbishment works to full site tenders for main contractors, as well as support the office team with other administrative tasks and serve customers in the yard (as required).

The estimator element of the role will include:

  • Printing and preparing tender documents received from main contractors
  • Raising tender specific estimate sheets on Excel
  • Completing manual take-offs from scale technical drawings to accurately quantify roof areas, dimensions, roof pitches and subsequently the required materials and labour costings for roof works
  • Inputting the information taken from the manual take offs into Excel and then transferring the required figures onto a prepared site/job specific schedule of works
  • Raising an accurate quotation for the client inclusive of the attached information

Full training for the role will be provided to the successful candidate (as required). As a member of a smaller team, it is essential for all members of staff to be able to pick up multiple tasks in the workplace, so alongside the estimator role, any successful candidate would need to be happy to serve customers in the yard (including operate a forklift as and when required), prepare deliveries, load and unload vehicles and work alongside other members of the team.
