Registered Children's Home Manager to lead a residential children's home in Romford.

The Role

As the Registered Children's Home Manager, you will have full responsibility for the operational management and development of the home, ensuring the highest standards of care are delivered in line with the

Children's Homes Regulations 2015, Ofsted requirements and quality standards .

You will lead a dedicated team of care professionals, ensuring the home provides emotional security, stability and personalised support tailored to each young person's individual needs.

This role requires a confident and compassionate leader who can balance operational excellence with a strong focus on improving outcomes for children.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take overall responsibility for the management, development and quality of the children's home.
  • Ensure the home operates in accordance with Children's Homes Regulations, Ofsted standards and internal policies.
  • Provide strong leadership, direction and support to the staff team.
  • Promote a positive, trauma-informed culture focused on achieving the best outcomes for young people.
  • Oversee care planning, safeguarding, risk management and partnership working.
  • Ensure young people receive high-quality, person-centred care that supports their emotional, physical and developmental needs.
  • Develop strong working relationships with families, local authorities and multi-agency professionals.
  • Lead on quality assurance, continuous improvement and preparation for inspections.
  • Support recruitment, induction, supervision, appraisal and ongoing development of staff.
  • Manage staffing levels, rotas, resources and budgets effectively.
  • Maintain accurate records, reporting systems and compliance documentation.
  • Participate in management on-call arrangements when required.

About You

We are looking for an experienced residential childcare professional who is passionate about improving the lives of children and young people.

You will ideally have experience managing a children's residential home and a strong understanding of working with young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties, ASD, learning difficulties or complex needs.

  • Previous experience managing a children's residential home.
  • Strong knowledge of Ofsted regulations, Children's Homes Regulations and safeguarding requirements.
  • Experience leading, motivating and developing care teams.
  • Proven ability to manage inspections, compliance and quality standards.
  • Experience with care planning, risk assessments and multi-agency working.
  • Understanding of budgeting, rota management and operational performance.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.
  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or currently working towards).
  • Experience using digital care systems and Microsoft Office.
  • A commitment to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion.
