The post holder will join a busy and well-functioning team.
Although all aspect of ENT will be covered by the post holder the main duties of this post will be to develop the High Volume Low Complexity (HVLC) surgical lists along with Rhinology surgery.
New consultants will be provided with the necessary Induction and orientation along with support from the team and commitment to meeting training and development needs.
With regards to the provision of the service, the post holder will share with the other Consultants, and Specialty Doctors in the assessment and treatment of ENT A&E referrals in the \"Hot Clinics\" and other GP referrals by providing high quality patient care from the point of admission to discharge, with a particular emphasis of helping to meet waiting list targets and current challenges.
The case-mix will cover all aspects of ENT surgery and the successful applicant will have had specialist training in all aspects of ENT surgery and be able to demonstrate an adequate level of skill and experience all areas of ENT.
Sessions will be worked flexibly to allow full utilisation of our theatres.
- Liaising with GPs and other external providers
- Responsible for providing clinical services in ENT in line with Trust policy.
- Provision and planning of ENT Services to meet service agreements.
The successful candidate will be expected to work in liaison with other members of staff in other clinical departments.
- Within Clinical Governance principles the appointee is responsible for maintaining a high-quality service with regular audit, risk assessment, complaint handling This will be underpinned by the annual appraisal.
- He/she will be expected to participate in rotational commitments along with other senior colleagues to provide full clinical services in ENT.
- To be responsible together with other surgeons for developing the multi-disciplinary team.
- To achieve the required reduction in waiting times for consultation and treatment.
- To contribute to the effective functioning of the Department as a key member of the ENT team and assume responsibility, both singularly and corporately, for the appointment, management and education of junior medical staff.
- To participate in multidisciplinary meetings.
- Support implementation of the Clinical Strategy.
