An exciting opportunity has arisen for highly motivated and committed Band 3 Health Care Assistants to join our teams on wards and departments at both Queens Hospital and King Georges Hospital, including our Emergency, Surgical, Geriatrics and Medicine Departments. We are looking for enthusiastic and driven individuals to work with us at BHRUT.

The role is critical in supporting the initial assessment and ongoing care of patients attending ED and through to the general and specialist ward areas. The role requires excellent communication skills and experience working in an acute healthcare setting. You will be required to be fully flexible to do shift work that includes day shifts, night shifts, weekends and bank holidays.

  • Day shifts (07:30 am until 20:00)
  • Night shifts (19:30 until 08:00 am)

Previous experience as a Healthcare Assistant in a hospital, nursing home or care home setting is essential, along with the ability to demonstrate excellent communication skills and experience of working in an acute healthcare environment. Applicants must clearly state where their experience was gained within their supporting information.

The post holder will play a key role in supporting the initial assessment and ongoing care of patients from admission through to discharge, working closely with registered nurses and the wider multidisciplinary team. You will undertake delegated clinical and non‑clinical duties, support patients with personal care, mobility, nutrition and comfort, carry out vital signs and observations, assist with clinical procedures following training, maintain accurate documentation and promptly escalate concerns about patient deterioration.

The postholder will demonstrate a level of skill and understanding, enabling them to undertake specific tasks delegated by the nurse in charge and in accordance with relevant procedures, guidelines and policies. They will undertake both routine and specially identified tasks for which they have been trained and assessed as competent.
