The Governing Body at Springside Special School are seeking to appoint 2 suitably qualified, enthusiastic and experienced individuals into the role of Teaching Assistant Level 1 (+). The successful candidates will be working directly with pupils with complex additional educational needs, across all phases of our school; Nursery Year 6. Successful candidates will be expected to work across any of the Springside sites, as required.

We are seeking a caring and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant Level 1+ to join our team on a temporary basis. This role is ideally suited to someone who enjoys working with children, is eager to learn and develop their skills, and is committed to supporting learners to feel safe, happy and ready to learn. You will play an important part in helping learners participate fully in school life, providing encouragement, reassurance and practical support throughout the school day.

No two days at Springside are the same. Working alongside experienced colleagues, you will support learners in a variety of learning activities, help promote positive engagement and contribute to creating an environment where every child feels valued and included. You will bring kindness, flexibility and a willingness to work as part of a team, recognising that small moments of success can have a significant impact on a child's development and wellbeing.

Applicants must possess or be willing to work towards GCSE English and Maths at grade A* - C, or GCSE level 4 -9, or a level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy or CSE Grade 1 in English and Maths. Applicants must also possess or be willing to work towards a Level 2 qualification QCF (or NVQ prior to 2010) in Teaching and Learning. The ability to converse at ease with customers and service users and provide advice in accurate spoken English is an essential requirement of this post.

Springside is a new-build special school co-located with a mainstream primary school. The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Appointment to this post is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring and background check.
