About the role

We are looking for an experienced NOC Engineer with a strong background in ISP operations and network support.

Reporting to the NOC Shift Lead, you will be responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and improving the critical network infrastructure and processes that underpin Zen's consumer and business services. You'll be comfortable working in a live network environment, managing incidents, and applying configuration changes confidently during a 24/7, 12-hour shift rotation.

  • Collaboration hub: The NOC acts as the link between customers, engineers, and vendors, and provides leadership during incidents.
  • Future builders: We anticipate growth by planning capacity, scaling the network, and ensuring it's ready to meet constantly evolving demands.

What you'll do

As a NOC Engineer, you'll play a key role in maintaining the stability, performance, and resilience of Zen's network infrastructure. Working closely with Network and Infrastructure Engineers, as well as third parties and internal teams, you'll manage incidents, optimise processes, and support ongoing service improvements.

Your main responsibilities include:

  • Participating in a 24x7x365 shift rotation, providing continuous network monitoring and support.
  • Ensuring stable, reliable operation of Zen's access, service, and core networks.
  • Managing major incidents - coordinating response, communication, and resolution across internal teams and suppliers.
  • Monitoring network and system performance using established tools, identifying and resolving issues proactively.
  • Troubleshooting complex network faults across hardware and software layers.
  • Applying configuration changes following approved change control processes.
  • Installing, maintaining, and upgrading network hardware and software.
  • Providing 3rd-line technical support for escalations from other departments.
  • Maintaining accurate, high-quality documentation for projects, incidents, and processes.
