Our client based in Watford is looking for a

Site Manager to join their team.

To manage the day-to-day delivery of HV substation site works, ensuring works are executed safely, on programme and to the required quality standards.

  • Take overall responsibility for site operations, safety, security and welfare.
  • Coordinate labour, plant, materials and subcontractors on a daily basis.
  • Implement RAMS and deliver site inductions, briefings and toolbox talks.
  • Monitor progress against programme and report to the Project Manager.
  • Ensure works meet quality standards and inspection & test plan (ITP) requirements.
  • Liaise with DNO/TO site representatives and client personnel.
  • Maintain site records, diaries, permits, inspections and photographic evidence.
  • Enforce CDM and HVSS health, safety, environmental and quality requirements.
  • Coordinate with the SAP / Authorised Person to enable safe systems of work.
  • Manage site logistics, deliveries and interfaces with concurrent works.

Applicants must hold current authorisation and/or demonstrable delivery experience on at least ONE of the following distribution or transmission networks:

  • Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN)
  • UK Power Networks (UKPN)
  • National Grid Electricity Distribution (NGED)
  • National Grid (NG)

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Site delivery experience on at least one of SSEN, UKPN, NGED or NG.
  • SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme).
  • First Aid at Work certificate.

Experience

  • Proven site management experience within HV substation or heavy electrical construction.
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing and site coordination.
  • Experience supervising directly-employed and subcontracted trades.

Skills & Attributes

  • Hands-on site leadership with a strong safety culture.
  • Ability to read and work to construction programmes and drawings.
  • Well organised with accurate site record-keeping.
  • Firm but fair management of on-site teams.
  • Shift times: 09:00am-17:00pm (hours may differ, flexibility is needed)
