Help build the commercial foundations of the UK's Fusion Energy future. This one helps deliver a vision. UK Fusion Energy (UKFE) has been established to deliver STEP, the UK's prototype fusion energy plant. At West Burton, a former coal-fired power station site is being transformed into the home of one of the most ambitious clean energy programmes in the world. The aim is to demonstrate commercial fusion energy and help create an entirely new industry for future generations. This is a rare opportunity to join that journey at a pivotal stage.

As Commercial Manager, you'll support major procurement, commercial and contract management activity across the programme, working alongside senior stakeholders, suppliers, technical specialists and delivery partners to help shape how this nationally significant programme is delivered.

You'll contribute across:

  • Commercial and procurement strategy
  • Contract negotiation and supplier engagement
  • Commercial governance and compliance
  • Risk management and dispute avoidance
  • Stakeholder and supplier relationships
  • Commercial decision-making across complex work streams

We're keen to speak with Commercial Managers, Contract Managers, Commercial Leads and Procurement & Commercial professionals from sectors such as infrastructure, utilities, energy, defence, engineering, manufacturing, public sector and other regulated environments. MCIPS-qualified professionals will receive an additional £5,800 allowance, taking the package to £57,117 before bonus and pension benefits are considered.

Why Join? The real attraction isn't just the package. It's the timing. You're joining before many of the programme's most significant commercial decisions have been made. You'll help shape how UKFE works with suppliers, delivery partners and industry as the programme develops over the coming years. As the organisation grows, so will the commercial function. That creates genuine long-term opportunities to develop your career, broaden your responsibilities and be part of something that very few people will ever have the chance to experience. Years from now, people will look at what was built at West Burton and the role STEP played in the future of clean energy. This is your chance to be one of the people who helped make it happen.
