The Role

As the Registered Manager, you will be responsible for the overall leadership, management, and development of the home, ensuring full compliance with Ofsted regulations and the Children’s Homes Regulations & Quality Standards. You will lead a dedicated team to provide therapeutic, child-focused care while promoting stability, safeguarding, and positive outcomes for children and young people with emotional and behavioural needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Register with Ofsted as the Registered Manager for the home
  • Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the children’s home
  • Ensure compliance with Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards
  • Promote safeguarding and the welfare of children and young people at all times
  • Develop and maintain a positive, nurturing, and therapeutic environment
  • Lead, motivate, supervise, and develop the staff team
  • Manage staff rotas, recruitment, supervisions, and performance management
  • Ensure care plans, risk assessments, and placement plans are implemented effectively
  • Build positive relationships with Local Authorities, social workers, families, and external professionals
  • Manage budgets and resources effectively
  • Prepare for and lead Ofsted inspections
  • Drive continuous improvement and achieve excellent outcomes for young people

Requirements

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience within a children’s residential setting in a leadership role
  • Strong knowledge of Ofsted regulations and safeguarding procedures
  • Experience managing children and young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD)
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills
  • Ability to lead under pressure and manage complex situations effectively
  • Full UK Driving Licence preferred
