Proud member of the Disability Confident employer scheme. Equans are looking for a Regional SHEQ Manager to join our team in London on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary, bonus and benefits package. The post holder will cover the London region. The role offers hybrid working.
What will you deliver?
- Management of SHEQ across the Regional Operational area to ensure all work is undertaken to external and internal standards and guidelines.
- Work with the Sr SHEQ Managers to utilise and maintain adequate systems to meet all statutory and EQUANS obligations.
- Ensure all reportable data (Near Misses, Accidents, RIDDORs, HiPo’s, LTI’s, Incidents, LSV/MSV, Waste, Water, Energy, Social Initiatives, Volunteering etc) is recorded accurately on the contract – coach contracts, sites and individuals where required.
- Establish SHEQ Action Plans for each contract with the Contract Director/Manager – these outputs will deliver safer workplaces, improved employee engagement, culture and support our work-winning activity as models of best practice.
- Act on the findings of SHEQ Audits – providing guidance to the sites and feedback to SHEQ Solutions on tools, processes and systems that may be needed to improve the safety and quality of our work.
- Mentor the Safety Ambassadors within the contracts that you will be responsible for.
- Lead by example in following the company’s values and objectives.
- Ensure that each contract has a Training Matrix or Learning Management System to ensure that all colleagues within the area have the appropriate Quality and H&S training, qualifications, and development. The delivery of training that impacts safety should be monitored and prioritised.
- Lead investigations and liaise with stakeholders, ensuring detailed investigations are undertaken and full reports/recommendations are provided – these reports will adequately identify the root causes of incidents.
- Hold close out meetings, to ensure incidents/investigations are fully closed and firm action plans with recommendations are presented to the Accident Incident Review boards to prevent further occurrences across the division and UKB.
- Support other internal functions to ensure systems and resources are appropriate to manage the risks across the area.
- Coach contracts to use the Divisional Reporting tools Power BI and feedback to the central SHEQ team on what further reporting may be needed.
- Form strategic relationships with the HSE/EHO’s and other appropriate industry forums.
- Support key bids, attend tender interviews, lead competitive dialogue in the bid process to demonstrate that H&S is top of the agenda.

Who are we looking for?
- Previous experience of a Health and Safety role within the construction, blue light or prison sector, FM or related industries.
- Understanding of construction, energy and FM technology and methods.
- Demonstrable experience relevant SHEQ legislation.
- NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety; British Safety Council Level 5 Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health; City & Guilds Level 5 (NVQ) Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Practice; NCRQ Level 6 Diploma in Applied Health and Safety or equivalent qualification or qualification by experience.
- NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Health and Safety.
- Membership of IOSH.
- Experience of fire prevention and fire management.
- This role includes a DBS Enhanced check therefore ability to pass is essential.
