We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Band 5 Speech and Language Therapist to join our supportive Paediatric Therapy Team.
This is an exciting opportunity to work with children and young people who present with a wide range of speech, language, communication, and feeding needs, delivering high-quality, child-centred care within a multidisciplinary environment.
In this role, you will manage a general paediatric caseload, working with children who have varied and complex needs while accessing appropriate support, supervision, and professional development opportunities.
Newly qualified therapists are welcomed and will be supported to develop towards autonomous practice through structured supervision, mentoring, and guidance from their line manager and experienced colleagues.

Base Our Childrens Community Health Team provision supports our Surrey-wide service, and you will be based at one of our Office Hubs across Surrey with the opportunity for hybrid working.
This position is a fixed-term role for 12 months.
- Main Responsibilities
- Manage and prioritise a paediatric caseload, delivering high-quality, child-centred assessment, intervention, review, and discharge planning for children with a range of developmental and complex needs.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate evidence-based therapy programmes for individual children and groups across home, education, and community settings.
- Work collaboratively with children, families, carers, education staff, and multidisciplinary teams to agree goals, provide specialist advice, and promote positive outcomes.
- Communicate complex and sensitive information with empathy and professionalism, supporting families to understand and engage in their child's therapy plan.
- Contribute to multidisciplinary assessment, diagnosis, care planning, and referrals to ensure children's wider needs are identified and addressed.
- Produce clear, accurate reports and maintain timely clinical records in line with professional, legal, and organisational standards.
- Provide clinical support, training, and guidance to students, parents/carers, and education staff, contributing to service development and therapy initiatives.
- Participate in supervision, continuing professional development, audit, research, and quality improvement activities to support personal and service growth.
- Effectively manage clinical risk, use sound clinical reasoning, seek support when required, and deputise for senior colleagues as appropriate.
Essential
- Recognised Speech and Language Therapy degree or equivalent (Post Graduate Diploma or MSc in Speech and Language Therapy leading to registration with HCPC)
- Knowledge/training in ASD strategies and interventions e. g. PECS, SCERTS, ADOS
- Health and Care Professions Council Licence to Practice (HCPC)
- Member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists
- Member of relevant Clinical Excellence Network
- Specialist knowledge of assessments and interventions for client group
- Knowledge of national and local policies and procedures relevant to client group and role.
- Awareness of policies and procedures relating to Child Protection
- Experience of managing own caseload and to work effectively with a range of client groups
Desirable
- Knowledge /training in PCI, Hanen strategies.
- Knowledge/training in educational training packages e. g. ELKLAN, Well Comm
- Knowledge/training in signing e. g. Makaton
- Demonstrable experience of working in the NHS
- Previous experience of working with children in the field of Speech and Language Therapy.
- Evidence of successful completion of specialist short courses relating to the post.
- Membership of relevant Special Interest Groups/Clinical excellence networks
- Training relating to the line management and supervision of assistants and other therapists.
- Experience of training parents, other therapists and other professionals
