This is a unique opportunity for an experienced Operation and Business Manager with extensive experience of leading complex operational services with clarity, compassion, and strategic vision to join our team. We are looking for a resilient and forward-thinking leader who can:

  • Inspire teams and foster a culture of compassion, inclusion, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Deliver robust performance across access, quality, workforce, and financial metrics
  • Champion transformation and innovation in response to evolving patient and system needs
  • Collaborate effectively with all stakeholders internally and externally including commissioners and subcontractors

You will play a key role in shaping long-term service development, improvement and innovation, ensuring alignment with national policy and patient demand. The post holder will:

  • Deliver effective operational management of the Op Courage, Berkshire Traumatic Stress Service and Birth in Mind service, including the production of programme strategy and plans and relevant documents to ensure strong management and assurance arrangements
  • Cover all aspects of work associated with developing and running the service providing leadership for key priorities including the development of good governance, a clear work programme to ensure change/transformation and widespread stakeholder management
  • Oversee the three service budgets, ensuring that regular reporting and monitoring takes place and actions are identified to minimise financial risk
  • Ensure effective operational leadership in delivery of the service meeting KPIs and effective workforce planning

The 'must haves' for this role:

  • Educated to master's degree level in relevant subject or equivalent level qualification or significant experience of working at a senior level in specialist area supported by professional development
  • Evidence of planning and delivering programmes and projects and services on time and to budget
  • Extensive experience of working with multiple stakeholders including commissioners and subcontractors
  • Aware of NHS infrastructure, governance, and healthcare policy including veteran's healthcare
  • Significant experience of complex healthcare programme management
  • Specific training/experience in application of quality improvement methodology

Berkshire Traumatic Stress Service and Birth in Mind are Berkshire based services, whilst our OpCourage Veterans Mental Health and Wellbeing Service covers the area of Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, and Hampshire including the Isle of Wight. You will be joining a multi-disciplinary team. The service operational administrative base is in the University of Reading, Berkshire and there would be an expectation to work there at least once a week. In addition, there would be a need to travel across area covered when required, including to our subcontractors in Sussex. There are opportunities for flexible working.
