Ready to influence how risk is managed across Thames Water? This is an exciting opportunity to join our Asset Management function as an Asset Risk Business Partner on an 11-month maternity cover where you’ll play a key role in strengthening how we identify, assess and manage risk across the business. Working closely with senior leaders, operational teams and delivery partners, you’ll help embed best-practice risk management and support confident, informed decision-making that protects essential services for millions of customers.
What you’ll be doing as an Asset Risk Business Partner:
- Partnering with teams across Operations, Asset Planning, Engineering and Capital Delivery to identify and assess risks to service delivery, ensuring effective mitigation plans are in place.
- Supporting and contributing to monthly risk reviews, providing technical challenge and insight to senior stakeholders, including Exec and AO&CD leadership.
- Developing and delivering risk management training to build internal capability and improve consistency.
- Project managing key Asset Risk initiatives that support the maturity of our risk management framework.
- Acting as a Superuser for our Asset Planning System, supporting a community of 1,000+ users.
- Delivering assurance activities to improve risk data quality in line with ISO 55001 and ISO 31000 standards.
- Creating proactive and targeted communications to improve engagement and understanding of asset risk.
- Championing risk management across Asset Management and Engineering, aligned to the Enterprise Risk Management Framework.
What you should bring to the role:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to influence at all levels.
- Practical experience or understanding of risk and/or asset management principles.
- Experience improving or implementing new ways of working.
- Confidence using risk management tools. (Asset Planning System experience desirable)
- Experience designing and delivering training or assurance programmes.
- A proactive, self-starting mindset, with the confidence to challenge constructively.
Qualifications:
- Degree-level qualification. (desirable)
- Professional qualification with the Institute of Risk Management, Institute of Asset Management, or a relevant professional body. (desirable)
Working Pattern and Location:
- Hybrid role, with attendance at Clearwater Court, Reading, once a week (normally Friday) or when required.
- Maternity cover secondment until 4th July 2027.
