About the role:

This is a newly created role to run our yearly events programme. Our busiest events activities are during the spring and summer months attending air shows and RAF and aviation themed events. You will need to join the team in the office 2 days per week along with flexibility to work weekends on occasions. Reporting to the Head of Retail, this role leads the execution of the planned events calendar, co-ordinating merchandise range, the logistical arrangements including organising staff and volunteers, travel, accommodation and administrative requirements.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Lead innovative sales tactics to achieve the event seasons annual financial targets.
  • Take ownership of retail event planning, including but not limited to location sourcing, site visits, operational planning, scheduling, staffing, and all other infrastructure.
  • Work within strict deadlines and cost parameters, achieving or exceeding event sales and profit targets.
  • Oversee permits, applications, and health & safety compliance.
  • Oversee cash handling pre and post-show, liaising regularly with our finance team to organise floats and cash-counting.
  • Manage and grow RAFATRAD’s shop in a box facility alongside the RAFATRAD Sales Team.
  • Be willing to attend multiple events throughout the season (dates are flexible).
  • During the off-season (October – March) other administrative duties will be required within the RAFATRAD Sales and Marketing team.

About you:

Our ideal colleague will be an experienced Events Specialist looking for a strategic management role with the confidence to bring your ideas, vision, wisdom and innovation to the team. As a confident and persuasive networker, you will have relevant experience in managing multiple events from the planning stages through to execution along with skills in marketing, communications or retail sales. A high level of IT proficiency is required for working with CRM systems, analysis and reporting. Previous line manager experience is highly desirable as you will be leading and motivating teams of staff and volunteers. A self-motivated, proactive and results driven team player will thrive in this role. You must have a full UK driving licence as you may be required to drive our events vans occasionally.
