A fantastic opportunity is available for an intermediate or senior-level construction professional with experience in cost management, project management, employer’s agent duties, contract administration and commercial management.

LOCATION: Hybrid working 3 days from the office in Leeds, West Yorkshire, and the remainder from home

JOB OVERVIEW

This is an excellent opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor / Project Manager to join a growing and ambitious organisation delivering construction, residential, commercial, healthcare, retail and infrastructure projects. As the Quantity Surveyor / Project Manager you will support or lead project finances, contracts, forecasting, cost control, project management and employer’s agent responsibilities, depending on your level of experience. Working closely with clients, contractors, project managers and stakeholders, the Quantity Surveyor / Project Manager will help maintain commercial performance, manage risk and support successful project delivery across a varied project portfolio.

DUTIES

  • Managing Project Budgets: Monitor cost control, forecasting and financial performance across a range of construction projects
  • Supporting Project Delivery: Assist with or lead project management, client liaison, programme coordination and stakeholder communication
  • Undertaking Employer’s Agent Duties: Support contract administration and act as a key point of contact across assigned projects
  • Preparing Tender Documentation: Review tender packs, contracts, procurement information and commercial documentation
  • Conducting Risk Assessments: Identify commercial risks and support value engineering activities to improve project outcomes
  • Negotiating Agreements: Liaise with contractors, suppliers and subcontractors to support positive commercial outcomes
  • Overseeing Valuations: Manage variations, interim valuations, financial reporting and final accounts
  • Ensuring Compliance: Maintain compliance with contractual, legal and project requirements
  • Mentoring Junior Team Members: Provide guidance and support where appropriate, particularly at senior level

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • Previous experience in quantity surveying, commercial management, construction cost control or project management
  • Experience of employer’s agent duties and contract administration would be highly desirable
  • Good understanding of JCT contracts and construction project documentation
  • BSc degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related discipline would be preferred
  • Experience using cost management software such as Bluebeam and Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong commercial awareness with good analytical, negotiation, problem-solving and financial management skills
  • Able to build positive relationships with clients, contractors, colleagues and stakeholders
  • Full Driving Licence is required; pool cars can be used
  • MRICS qualification, or willingness to work towards chartered status, would be preferred
