We have a new opportunity, officially called an Aerospace Anodiser, for a practical, reliable and quality-focused person to join a production team, working in a specialist aerospace manufacturing environment. Previous anodising experience is not essential, as training will be provided.
LOCATION: Liverpool, Merseyside, North West England (L3)
JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent
WORKING HOURS: Monday to Thursday 8:00am – 4:30pm, Friday 8:00am – 3:30pm
JOB OVERVIEW: This is a great opportunity to develop practical production skills within a specialist aerospace manufacturing environment where safety, accuracy and quality are essential. Working as the Production Operative / Process Operator you will be trained to set up and operate anodising lines and associated chemical treatment processes in line with customer specifications, internal procedures and approved process instructions.
The Production Operative / Process Operator will help process aerospace components through anodising and chemical conversion coating processes, while following detailed work instructions, SOPs, health and safety procedures and quality standards. As the Production Operative / Process Operator you will support production targets, complete quality checks, handle customer parts with care and help ensure all work is completed safely, accurately and on time.
DUTIES:
- Set Up and Operate Processes: Set up and run anodising lines safely and efficiently in accordance with approved work instructions and process specifications.
- Process Aerospace Components: Process parts through anodising and chemical conversion coating processes, including Boric-Sulphuric Acid, Sulphuric Acid, Chromic Acid, Alocrom and Alodine processes, once trained.
- Follow Job Documentation: Correctly identify and process customer components against job documentation, customer requirements, SOPs and applicable aerospace standards.
- Handle Components Safely: Load, rack and handle customer components carefully throughout the process to prevent damage or contamination.
- Monitor Process Controls: Check tank conditions, temperatures, voltages, times and other process parameters during production.
- Carry Out Quality Checks: Complete visual and required quality checks during and after processing, reporting defects, process issues or non-conformances promptly.
- Complete Production Records: Maintain accurate production, quality and process documentation in a timely manner.
- Follow Safety Procedures: Work safely with chemicals, follow COSHH requirements and use PPE and safety equipment correctly.
- Support Production Targets: Help achieve the production plan, customer timescales, quality standards and productivity targets.
- Maintain Housekeeping Standards: Keep work areas, equipment, shadow boards and production facilities clean, organised and well maintained.
- Support Continuous Improvement: Contribute to training, teamwork, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement activities across the production area.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:
- Able to understand and follow detailed work instructions, specifications and SOPs.
- Good attention to detail with a strong commitment to quality.
- Able to work safely with chemicals and follow COSHH and PPE requirements.
- Good manual handling skills and an understanding of how to protect customer components from damage.
- Able to work effectively as part of a team and with minimal supervision.
- Willing to undertake training and develop knowledge of aerospace processes and customer requirements.
- Previous experience in a production, manufacturing, factory, process line, warehouse, quality inspection or hands-on operational role would be useful.
- Previous experience in anodising, chemical processing, surface treatment or aerospace manufacturing would be advantageous, but is not essential.
- Experience setting up or operating production processing lines would be advantageous.
- Knowledge or experience of aerospace surface treatment processes would be desirable.
- Previous experience of BSAA, Sulphuric Acid, Chromic Acid anodising or chemical conversion coating processes would be advantageous.
