  • ROLE AND PURPOSE

Under the direction of the Team Manager ensure that End User devices and business systems utilisation meets with the business and/or technical requirements.

This will enable a stable, secure, reliable, cost-effective and manageable ICT environment that is in line with the Council’s ICT strategy, business and technical needs.

Work in conjunction with various teams in devising and implementing project based solutions for, but not limited to, business systems, desktop related hardware and peripherals.

Lead the desktop related operational functions, including Asset Management, site visits, builds, store room and stock management.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Customer Focus – Deputise for the Team Manager when directed. Ensure operational performance is in line with agreed SLA targets and the network availability remains.
  • Support the development of new services by providing input specifications, business cases and changes.
  • Provide expert 2nd/3rd line support for all end user service related calls, including co-ordination of resources.
  • Performance Management – Ensure desktop related hardware and peripherals availability and call performance is in-line with agreed targets.
  • Statutory Obligations – Work with services to ensure they are able to effectively use ICT systems to meet their Statutory Obligations in a continuously changing environment.

Contribute to the ongoing PSN requirements.

  • Provide an escalation point using expert technical skills to act as guardian / custodian of key End User Services components ensuring process and best practice are adhered to by teams who undertake operational processes.
  • Proactive monitoring of desktop estate to ensure availability targets are met.
  • Lead functions within the team to ensure delivery to processes and procedures.
  • Specialist knowledge of relevant industry-standard software and hardware technologies (e. g. desktops, laptops, peripherals, business systems, and operating systems).
  • Delivery of project work packages as required. Delivery of technical projects related to End User Services.
  • Functional responsibility for providing operational support coverage for End User Services.
  • Carry out investigations and audit support in all ICT related subjects.
  • Act as custodian / guardian of key End user Services processes and procedures and ensure all documentation is created and maintained across the team.
  • Ensure co-ordination, where necessary, activity associated with resolving complex system faults, supplier upgrades and the provision of remote access facilities for 3rd party support.

Oversee and participate in provision of a service desk function to support users of Housing systems, ensuring adequate resources are available to meet the demand for support.
