As a

Maintenance Assist with Sodexo, you'll enhance the services of our vibrant corporate site, offering a helping hand to ensure flawless facilities operations and keep things running smoothly.

What you'll do

  • Support the safe operation, maintenance and repair of M&E building services, plant and fabric equipment across the site.
  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance within your level of technical competence, with approximately

50% of the role being hands-on maintenance work.

  • Provide technical support and guidance to the wider maintenance team, helping to resolve faults and operational issues.
  • Coordinate directly employed labour and subcontractors to ensure Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) activities are completed effectively and on time.
  • Help achieve and maintain

100% compliance across all statutory PPM activities.

  • Support the delivery of reactive maintenance services both during normal operating hours and, where required, outside of normal site hours.
  • Ensure work requests, permits and associated maintenance documentation are completed accurately and appropriately.
  • Monitor plant and equipment performance, identifying opportunities to improve reliability, efficiency and overall performance.
  • Support the development and implementation of systems that help keep plant operating at optimum efficiency.
  • Participate in energy-saving initiatives and promote the efficient use of energy across the site.
  • Monitor the performance of subcontractors and ensure work is completed safely and to the required standards.
  • Work alongside the SHEQ team to support the review and maintenance of Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance, Health & Safety and contract performance records.
  • Build positive working relationships with the client, colleagues, contractors and other site stakeholders.
  • Promote a strong safety culture by reporting accidents, hazards, near misses and safety observations.
  • Continually look for opportunities to improve maintenance processes and service delivery.

What you'll bring

  • Ideally, a minimum of

5 years' experience within building services and plant engineering , including experience as a maintenance craftsperson.

  • Strong practical, hands-on maintenance and engineering experience.
  • Experience of Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance within a commercial or industrial environment.
  • Technical knowledge or experience across areas such as

LV, mechanical services, confined spaces, boiler and pressure systems and Legionella would be advantageous.

  • A good understanding of Health & Safety legislation and safe working practices.
  • Experience working with Risk Assessments, Safe Systems of Work and Permit to Work procedures.
  • The confidence to provide technical support and guidance to colleagues when required.
  • Experience working with and coordinating subcontractors.
  • Strong fault-finding, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good numerical and IT skills, with the ability to complete accurate reports and maintenance documentation.
  • A proactive and resourceful approach with the ability to work under pressure and manage changing priorities.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team while also using your own initiative.
  • Flexibility to support maintenance requirements outside normal operating hours when required.
  • A willingness to undertake additional training and development relevant to the role.
