Staff Nurse - Oncology | Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in Preston

Are you caring and compassionate, wanting to work in the innovative field of cancer nursing, providing excellent quality care for cancer patients during treatments, including chemotherapy and radiotherapy and also for those patients at end of life. The 24 bedded Ribblesdale Ward provides inpatient care for cancer and haematology patients.

We are looking for highly motivated, enthusiastic staff with excellent communication skills to join our already established teams but also to lead and develop new services and ways of working as our Oncology teams grasp this opportunity to influence, shape and develop the changing face of cancer care and service provision at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals. This is a fixed term contract. The contract will end March 2027.

• Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy and other related cancer treatments.
• Manage side effects of treatment and maintain quality of life.
• Palliative care including complex symptom management at end of life.

You will need to be flexible in your working hours to work shifts/unsocial hours including nights as required. You must have a willingness to undertake further training to support the team in the management of oncology patients.

Be responsible for the delivery and co-ordination of care, through appropriate professional practice, delegation and supervision of duties carried out by junior staff. Communicate all relevant information to the multidisciplinary team internally and with external organisations as required, to ensure seamless care.

Act as a role model, presenting a positive image of self, team and the organisation. Maintain accurate and complete records of all care activities, in a timely manner, adhering to local and professional standards. Promote equality in care and practice by recognising, respecting and meeting the needs and choices of individuals.

Ensure environment of care is safe, well equipped and compliant with standards for hygiene and cleanliness. Maintain and develop own professional competence and seek to extend the scope of personal knowledge and skills within scope of role and professional practice.
